Day 11 and so on

After crash, some days passed without me updating blog for various reasons. Still, I haven't completely recovered from crash, but that's mostly because my routine went AWOL for time problems. I'm now trying to force me in recover, or going to reset one or two days, and then start again.
Stats are for now meaningless.

26 January 2006 - Day 10

I had a pretty bad crash last night, and I saw it coming. I went to medieval fencing, and as I was for various reasons, early (pratically at the beginning of the beginners lesson), i did some serious workout as i haven't done in quite a time, and then the lesson. Afterward, we met at some bar to talk about renewing the site, as is needing a massive overhaul. I went home some two hours late for nap. I remember of setting up the egg-timer, but I must have slept right throught, as I remember waking up two hours later, very sleepy and very confused. I was really to tired to crawl out of bed, and i thought of going directly to next nap studying in bed. I think i managed to read something for half an hour, eyelid dropping continuously, before going asleep. I didn't setup the egg-timer, I think. Woke up four hours later. I can speculate that even if my mind can, most of the time, go on with only some little time of REM only sleep, my body needs long rest to recover from exercising.

23/24/25 January 2006 - Days 7/8/9

Nothing much to say. I'm trying different nap lenghts, as I feel like I'm not hitting REM right on, or I'm too tired to be efficient. I'm starting from 40-45 and take away minutes while getting used to it. Anyway, today, before recitation lessons I had a short nap (15 min) because of time contraints, and I went in REM before the egg timer ringing.
Ah, seems like I might be Salgari in the recital "Salgari". :)

21/22January 2006 - Day 5/6

I'm a little late for my blog, but it was quite a WE. And my poliphasic routine was mostly disrupted, as I envisioned since I had three birthday parties in two days. First one was saturday night. Really a great night. Was a birthday party for Stefania (let's call her Prince$$, even is she is not the Rock 'n' Roll PusherS anymore), vocalist of Cherry Lips, and one of my dearest girl-friend (hypen meant), and another friend of mine Francesco AKA Kekko, guitarist of Neptune. She asked to LameScaligere as she was a member for some time, to come in medieval costume, but I was the only one with guts (or mad enough) to go, complete with chainmail. I love to feel like a fly in a cup of milk, to be out of ordinary, an so, even among out of ordinary people, I was the most extraordinay. This way I made acquaintance with some of the few people I didn't already knew (well, mostly girls). photos of the party here.
I returned home about five, watched ep 13 of Battlestar Galactica and hit bed to a long monophasic sleep until 1530. Did a couple of things, studied sometime, then went for the last party, a dinner based on ostrich meat (let me explain - I'm usually vegetarian, a little on the vegan side, but I don't refrain on eating meat in certain occasions, as in this I went only because specifically invited). Nothing particular, returned home at 0030, and went to nap, as I'm going to return immediatly to poliphasic.

From now I'm going to post stats from 0000 (or first nap in general) to 0000 of the day after, and not from "morning" to "morning"

Day 5 stats
I slept a little more doing a 1.5h nap because I knew I was going to be awake for a lot of hours without napping, but changed nap time to 25.

20 January 06 - Day 4

I had the first two oversleeping, both in 24 hours. Today no lessons at university, but still, this morning when I was at the barber for a cut and dye, I really had trouble staying awake, even if it was right after the third nap, and was there two hours. I had to take a nap not too much after. I'm groggy right now as I can't remember exactly when i did the nap.
I know i overslept the fourth nap, that's because I stayed in the bed after the alarm. I woke up at 16 and something, but I don't remember exactly when the nap started. I think i overslept by 1 hour.
I forgot to say that i bought an egg timer. All analogic. The alarm goes on for only a little, but it's quite loud, and I'm usually a light sleeper, and I wake easily from sound even with earplugs.
For all the afternoon i wasn't very productive. I'm realizing right now that i studied very little since this morning. Really can't remember if I had fifth nap or if i went directly to sixth right before Eskrima.
I was quite energic at Eskrima, more than my usual friday, and the training was quite intense. Seems like my body is gaining where my mind is losing. Nap one for the new day was right on schedule, but i didn't felt on the right conditions to do anything really productive, so I cooked a meal (as usually I eat after Eskrima and not before) and mostly went on reading. The other oversleep was on second nap, as i was feeling too tired when i woke so decided to add another 25 minutes. I think then i was about to set another 25, but i woke because i was sweating a lot (don't really know why) and found that the timer wasn't set. I'm sure at least once i woke up to control if the timer was running.
I really hate feeling demotivated to study and work. I'm not feeling as i would if i slept so little for four days in monophasic, but I hope my body is going to adapt quickly to polyphasic.

19 January 2006 - Day 3

Sleep deprivation is starting to kick in. Today I attended only a two hour class, and the first one was quite difficult to follow because i felt very sleepy, and I barely managed to stay awake. I took a stroll during the pause inbetween the hours, and the second hour presented no problem. I spent all the afternoon/evening/night at home studying and doing things. We skipped rehearsal today for various reasons... one being that my quasi little sister Camilla (but for me neechan or meimei--maybe I'm going to explain that too) isn't feeling very well, and as she takes precedence on most other things, I advised my partecipation on this evening rehearsal may be little or null.
Let me explain this: usually I'm very strict about theatre and rehearsal in particular, but this show is organized in a different manner, and i pre-advised I didn't want big parts because I wasn't to assure my continuative presence at rehearsals. Indeed, mosty I just have to create and do two fencing duels, and I can just train on them with Stefano outside rehearsals.

Did thai chi chuan in the evening instead. Quite a difficult to do at home, but it felt good.
I'm exercising mostly legs and abs because I decided it's time to learn how to do the on the wall somersault. Legs are not my my strong point, as it's not flexibility, but I tried on the mattress in the gym where we are doing medieval fencing, and I'm quite close. If I train properly, I think I can achieve in a month. Time to regain some back flexibility too.

Seems like I'm eating more, but I can't say if it's because my body is effectively asking more nutrients, or simply it's because I'm reading and studying for more time, and these are activities that more often than not stimulate my appetite.
Ah, yeah. I remember now that one of the side effects of sleep deprivation is increased appetite.

I'm trying to substitute the 1.5 core sleep with two more naps, maybe shorter, because I felt very tired after the core sleep. I wasn't able to sleep well in one of the two. In most of the naps I woke up confused about what hour was, which nap i just did, and in general with a out of place sensation.

18 January 2006 - Day 2

It's difficult to say when it's a "day" without monophasic sleep. I decided that has being early in the morning, around 0700-0800, and I'm writing stats making an average about the 24 hours before.

Energy, alertness, has changed a lot during the day. Seems like morning it's the low time, as I'm always quite sleepy. I hope it's going to change when my body enters completely in a poliphasic mood. Last evening I had medieval fencing, and I was really energic, with very good reflexes.

I'm still doing a litte core-sleep during the night, doing a 1.5 hour nap instead of 0.5. Don't know if it's really a good thing, as I'm quite sleepy afterward.

I haven't always done all the exercises I set as routine, for various reasons, one of which was that I was going to medieval fencing in the evening, where i was to exercise myself enough, and I don't want to overtrain myself, as it has sometimes caused me insomnia in the past.

A friend of mine, (I'm used to call her Zelda -- too long a story to explain here, but i think is now mostly nicknamed Snatch, or Dio's Bios) suggested "herbivore sleeping" as a name for poliphasic sleep. I find it quite appropriate as being vegetarian is a almost a must to achieve pholiphasic sleep.

17 January 2006 - Day 1

effectively the first day in poliphasic sleep.I'm quite sleepy, but i find myself mentally focused and alert. I jotting this note on pda at university.
I cheated a little,as I had a 1,5 hours sleep at six in the morning.I felt that necessary as i haven't slept at all in 20 and 04 naps.Maybe because I'm not used to,maybe because at five I forgot I wasn't to assume caffeine and had a tea at a friend's house.
I'm posting some stat's, as Federico has. I'm using 5 as representing my normal/average, as when I slept 8 hours.

one two tre test test

All seems all right.

Ok. New life. New blog.

New blog as in "Never Before". Not the first diary, only the first *online* diary. Well... left work, going to live making do as computer programmer, computer consultant, computer tecnician, computer teacher, whatever. No more semi-temporary works, almost-good office work, works that aren't giving me anything apart too little money. I'm working well, or I'm working provisorily, or I'm not working at all. Now, 100% university (oh, well. Let's discuss on that percentage), no more skipping classes, skipping exams, skipping study. And Personal Maturation and Renovation. Yes, again...

And, really important. I'm trying poliphasic sleep. I think (as many before me) that writing in a blog may help. Don't know. I left recitation lessons just an hour ago, another couple of hour and I'm going for the first nap. More or less, I plan on napping at hmm...

Here the problem. Usually I have university in the morning, in 4 hours blocks. Let's say about 40-50 minutes commuting to and fro, here I have to stretch the four hours a little. Some lessons are beginning at 830, some at 9. Some ends at 1230, some at 1330. let's say that it's best if I nap just before going to university. That may be 730-800 and let's go on from there.
Other than that, I have, almost every evening something to do, recitation lessons, medieval fencing, Kali-eskrima, rehersals for the incoming show at the carnival, and my four-year-and-running-introvert-complicate-psicological role-playing campaign. And I'm not going to talk about girlfriend (or as we wish to call her) now. I asked her to, (I'm egoist as always) to support and endure. I think I'm going to explore and explain some or all of the things cited in a blog post or another.

My classmate Federico Pistono (who has started a couple of months before me, and gave me some helpful tips-- thanks) has said he's stretching schedule here and there, without too much of an inconvenient, so, let's hope.
Check his blog---> www.federicopistono.org

I was thinking something like:
730-800
1400-1430
1700-1730
2000-2030
2400-2430
0400-0430
Not very equilibrate.

But I can't exactly split my day in 4 hours blocks.
Hmm. 0130 already. I think it's better if I sleep from 2 to eight tonight (still too little for me -_-), and then start napping at 1400.

Ah. I want to start again exercising somewhat seriously, like when i was doing kung fu. I don't know if i can spare one hour a day, but I'm going to start gradually, with 50 abs in bycicle stile, 10 pushups with raised legs, 5 pushups in vertical, 2 pushups with an arm and a leg (for arm), 5 squats on a single leg (for leg). Maybe some arm-wrist dexterity exercise for kali. Tai-chi-chuan one time a day. Or at least every two.
I'm writing this to remember myself of what I said. Let's see.
